Donic BlueGrip R1 - An answer to the plastic ball
With the Donic BlueGrip R1, the wait is over! This rubber from Donic is "Made in Germany" (ESN), with an overall European focus, and a promise to optimize properties despite the new plastic balls. These are known for developing less spin, being slower, and having a higher bounce. But how does this rubber deal with these issues?
First of all, there is an extremely grippy topsheet. This results in extreme friction between the rubber and the ball, so that the ball is "pulled along" very well and set in rotation. This effect is also supported by the integrated speed glue effect.
This has a positive effect on many strokes, including serves and returns. In addition, the blue Tensor sponge underneath (a medium-pored sponge, sponge hardness: 50°) has a powerful catapult effect. This gives the ball the necessary power and speed. In addition, the overall ball-to-racket contact time is increased, which also creates more rotation, but also more control. This rubber is available in 2.0 mm and Max thicknesses.
BlueGrip R1 from Donic - Who is it suitable for?
Well, in general the BlueGrip R1 is of course suitable for attacking players. The special feature is that it is ideal for attacking players on both sides. But counter-attacking players will also get on well with this rubber (on forehand and backhand). The slightly softer feeling perfectly compensates for the losses caused by the new plastic ball.
